Having a body is a joyful experience! My own love of bodywork comes from an appreciation of our physical selves: our thrilled senses, exploratory movements and miraculous presence. Our bodies are unique expressions of life--creative, awake and aware in every moment. Even when our minds wander to other times and places, our bodies remain here in the present. Our little aches and pains remind us to come back to ourselves, to a place of loving attention. When we return to body-awareness and invite healing, we reap the rewards of pleasure and a peaceful sense of well-being. We are then able to let go of the physical rigidity and emotional pains for which we have no use. Through our bodies, we open our whole selves to flexibility, exploration and joy.
My bodywork education began fourteen years ago with Iyengar yoga. Through my practice, and formal studies in ergonomics, I developed a deep respect for the importance of proper alignment in maintaining a resilient, energetic body. I dedicated myself to work that would engage my own body and mind cooperatively, studying Reiki, Esalen massage, and deep-tissue massage. Ive experienced, first hand, the endurance of the human body and learned the importance of showing our selves loving-kindness. My bodywork practice is a celebration of physicality and an act of grateful healing. It is a way for us to be present in the most important moment of our lives: right now.
